Historically, Lofoten has strong ties to the Viking Age, and at the Lofotr Viking Museum you can travel back in time. At Borg, archaeologists have dug up remains of the largest house ever found from the Viking Age. The house is said to have been the seat of power of one of the most influential chiefs in Arctic & Coastal Norway 1000 years ago, and this has been reconstructed and is now a living museum.
Lofoten fishing has been, and still is, the lifeblood of the region. Here you can absorb the atmosphere in any of the traditional fishing villages or aboard one of the fishing boats. The stockfish from here is world famous, and is still used as a main ingredient in many local dishes and Arctic Adventure Cuisine.
At the same time, we see that many new, small, local producers of specialties grown or processed in the region are emerging. Some of the best of this contemporary produce has been integrated into the Arctic Adventure Cuisine dining experience.
