Lofoten's "urban city"
Can you feel the lure of the Lofoten city vibe?, want to climb Svolværgeita or go cruising in the Trollfjorden? Svolvær is Lofoten's largest city with approximately 4700 inhabitants. Originally a fishing village it has thrived and today offers a wonderful urban atmosphere, excellent local dining experiences and is a fantastic starting point for adventures in the splendour of the surrounding natural landscapes and seascapes.
Lofoten fishing trips, kayaking, ski-tours, hiking trips, snowshoe and climbing tours are among the activities you can explore here. In Svolvær you can see and learn more about marine life in the north with the sea eagle and nature safaris by fast RIB or by fishing boat. It’s a great place to view the Northern Lights too.
You can easily reach Svolvær by plane with www.wideroe.no, the Hurtigruten boat or by speedboat via Bodø. The city itself is only ten minutes from the airport. You can choose to stay in the middle of the vibrant fishing village in traditional rorbu (fisherman cabins) or in a modern hotel with great facilities.
