Day 2

After a good breakfast, embark on a day filled with diverse experiences:

RIB Boat to Saltstraumen: Feel the rush of adrenaline as you speed towards Saltstraumen, the world's strongest tidal current. Marvel at the powerful whirlpools and keep an eye out for sea eagles soaring overhead

Hike to Keiservarden: Challenge yourself with a hike to Keiservarden, offering panoramic views of Bodø and the surrounding fjords. The crisp Arctic air and stunning vistas will invigorate your senses.

Art Walk in the Center: Explore Bodø's vibrant art scene with a guided walk through the city center. Discover striking murals, innovative sculptures, and the cutting-edge KRAFT contemporary art gallery.

Lunch at Craig Alibone: Indulge in a gourmet lunch at Craig Alibone Chocolate, where exquisite flavors meet artistic presentation. Savor handcrafted chocolates and delicate pastries in this charming patisserie.

As evening approaches, prepare for your journey to Støtt, the first stop on your Northern Lights quest.

The island of Støtt is located at the northern tip of the Helgeland coast, surrounded by the majestic Lofoten mountains to the north and the beautiful Helgeland islands to the south. It boasts an impressive archipelago and a picturesque trading post from the 1800s. STØTT Top of Helgeland offers culinary seafood, stately accommodations, and warm hosts who share the stories of the coast. Here, you will experience a welcoming local community, where the people truly open up to you.

When you arrive at Støtt, you’ll check into one of the historic rooms at STØTT Top of Helgeland. Rest your legs or explore the area before Restaurant Gammelbutikken serves you a delicious three-course dinner inspired by the coast and the bounty of the sea. For hundreds of years, the merchant has served local delicacies like halibut, cod, whale meat, dried fish, salted cod, and fish soup. This tradition is still cherished by Gammelbutikken, which is actually the only restaurant in Norway that produces its own dried fish. We can guarantee you a truly unique culinary experience. It’s not unlikely that the hosts will share a story or two as well.

After a long day, you can sink into a wonderfully soft bed surrounded by down duvets and the fresh sea breeze.

Day 3

Wake up refreshed to the sound of waves and birdsong outside your window. Enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast in the restaurant before you embark on a new day filled with experiences of your choosing—here, the possibilities are endless. On Støtt, you can immerse yourself in nature that will almost take your breath away. Take a hike on your own, or join us for a fishing village walk, a museum visit, or archipelago sightseeing to search for sea eagles. We also offer packed lunches you can take with you on your trip.

At this time of year, you can experience a unique and beautiful natural phenomenon in the north: the blue hour. The blue hour is the period of twilight every morning and evening when it is neither fully daylight nor completely dark, and the sky has a different blue hue than during the day. It is considered special because of the quality of light at this time, and both the expression and the natural phenomenon it refers to are widely used in artistic contexts and popular culture. The phenomenon is caused by Rayleigh scattering of sunlight.

After a few invigorating hours outdoors and a refreshing shower, you can warm up again inside the idyllic Restaurant Gammelbutikken. Here, a delicious three-course seafood dinner will be served before we head out on an adventure to chase the spectacular Northern Lights. First, we show a Northern Lights film, and then we take you to our cozy basecamp for a bonfire and warm drinks. You will hear the stories of Aurora dancing in the sky, and if we are extra lucky, she may pay us a visit, offering us a magnificent display across the heavens. Støtt is the perfect place to see the Northern Lights because there is very little light pollution on the island, and the areas are completely secluded and private. While we can’t guarantee the Northern Lights, we can certainly guarantee a unique and pleasant experience filled with exciting stories and the thrill of the chase. The length of the trip will depend on the weather.

Day 4

Treat yourself to a calm, relaxing morning with a hotel breakfast at Støtt before continuing your journey to the majestic Lofoten and the beautiful Svinøya Rorbuer. There are many ways to travel after the ferry from Støtt, but we recommend returning to Bodø and then taking the Nordland Express speedboat from Bodø to Svolvær. The moment the fishing village of Svolvær and the towering Lofoten mountains appear on the horizon from the boat is a magical sight, best experienced from the sea. The trip takes about 3.5 hours.

You can also travel by car or plane.

When you arrive at Svinøya Rorbuer, a warm welcome awaits you as you check into one of the lovely, historic fishermen’s cabins. Dining options in Svolvær are plentiful, and we highly recommend a dinner at one of Lofoten’s most renowned restaurants, Børsen Spiseri, just a few minutes' walk away. Here, fresh ingredients from Lofoten and Northern Norway’s unique pantry are served. Alternatively, there are many other great options in downtown Svolvær, only a 5-10 minute walk from Svinøya Rorbuer.

Afterwards, a warm, soft bed awaits you so you can wake up refreshed and ready for another day filled with unique activities and experiences in Lofoten.

Day 5

Start a wonderful day in Svolvær with a warm, fresh breakfast at Svinøya Rorbuer, overlooking the sea and spectacular nature just outside your window. Then, explore Svolvær’s center and enjoy a delightful lunch at one of the many cozy cafés and eateries in town. Or perhaps you’d prefer a hike? Maybe a RIB boat ride? The hosts will gladly offer tips and recommendations. In the evening, savor a delicious dinner at your choice of restaurant in Svolvær before we embark on an exciting Northern Lights hunt with our local and experienced guide. The tour departs by minibus from Svinøya Rorbuer to an area with the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Here, you'll learn more about how and why this incredible light phenomenon occurs, along with basic photography techniques. The trip generally lasts 3-4 hours, depending on the weather.
